Okay this is so tremendously fast BUT:

[a photo of Sue and Nick at the newly refurbish skate park at Pier 62. Nick looks reasonably pleased, but Sue is really hamming it up with a huge grin and thumbs up. Skaters are doing tricks in the background.]

The Pier 62 skate park TOTALLY lives up to the hype, and if you skate you should check it out ASAP!! :D

ok, bbl, going to learn some new tricks!

Hey Dad!

Nick is going to live with us now, I figure he can use that space in the gym.

The video starts with Sue's face in view, but it's not her usual smiling face. Instead, she looks tired and really unhappy. There's very little to distinguish where she is from the scenery (dingy pale yellow walls, fluorescent lighting), but in the background lots of shouting, arguments, crying and sirens can be heard.

Hey, so, I know that being a cop is hard and all, and everyone's human and everyone makes mistakes, buuut, you know, there's a line. And it's been crossed, here. Don't get me wrong, like, I was trying super hard to be patient and understanding, but it's been FIVE HOURS since Sora was taken, and the run-around we've been given is un-fucking-believable.

A pause.

Pardon my language.

The camera moves away from Sue's face, and as she turns it, there are glimpses of Lil and Milo - the latter nursing an injured face. They're sitting against the wall - at the police station, as it turns out. There are many people, all trying to get the attention a few very harried police officers, who are trying their best to keep order. Shin Kim is by far the most vociferous, hurling abuse and accusations - nothing violent or vulgar, but definitely on-the-mark and earning vehement agreement from others gathered there. Sue's voice continues to narrate.

Yeah, so, my best friend first gets kicked out of her NYU dorms. Where is she supposed to go? Who has that kind of money on a split second's notice? So of course she's staying with us. Right? Right!

But I guess they don't really account for 'guests' if their NIC cards say they're from Japan. Nevermind that she's never done anything wrong, is gainfully employed and fully legal to study and whatever.

There's a muffled comment off-screen from Milo, and the camera swings back around to look at him and Lil.

...okay, yeah, maybe we made a bit of a scene at the gym, but come on! It's just Sora! Oh! Hang on...

Mr. Kim and the cops come back into view, and the cop seems to have given in. He's holding his hands up in submission, and giving orders to a subordinate, who makes some notes and disappears in the back.

Oh man, are they finally getting them out?? It only took five hours and a whole freakin' run around. You'd think they'd take her to the local station, but nooo, that's already been filled up! Okay, so, how hard can it be to find out where two people are being held? Turns out, really hard --

Again, there's an off-screen comment - this time from Lil, reminding Sue that she hasn't talked about Nick yet.

Oh, yeah. Apparently they grabbed Nick, too, at some party. Seriously, do they take any excuse to lock someone up? Are they getting paid by the refugee or something? Is there a quota to fill?

Noise fills the mic as she exhales angrily. On screen, Shin is still shouting after the cop - "If there has been a hair touched on her head...!", etc. Finally, a door opens and Nick Langer and Sora Mori are led out. The former looks very disheveled and angry; Sora looks scared and relieved.

Finally!! Oh my god, guys, are you okay?

The video cuts out before she even finishes the syllable.

Hey Sora, remember to let me know if you want me and/or Lil to come help pack! Could be good times, labeling boxes all sorts of mysterious things and try to pique Dad's curiosity. ;) <3

Bored in class, surreptitiously Googling.

Check out what I found on one of my relatives' old websites!

I believe the term you all are looking for right now is 'BAMF'. And yeah, I pretty much am, thanks very much.

You know, screw flying cars, where are the flying bikes??

So, okay, I found some vouchers for free sandwiches - they expire in two weeks, BUT they're good until then! They're for that Subway-ripoff, MetroSub?

Is this sufficient reparation for enduring my dad's, uh, 'lesson' last night? :P

The video starts out looking over Union Square East; the area is filled with pedestrians and skateboarders. After some adjusting, one of them comes into focus -- it's our vlogger, Sue Kim, beaming at the camera.

"It's on?" she calls, tugging at her elbow pads. Nobody else is wearing them, but hey, a promise is a promise. After some silent confirmation from whoever's manning the camera, she laughs and then starts to skate. After about half a minute, she performs a kickflip... something that it's clear she's spent the afternoon practicing, because immediately after she successfully completes it, she raises her arms in victory.

"Yessssss!"

The video cuts out there, and then comes in on a more familiar scene: Sue, at home in her bedroom, sitting before the camera. Behind her, you can see bright yellow walls and a panoramic poster of the California coast. She's got her hair pulled up in a ponytail and is, as per usual, grinning.

"Hey, Manhattan Project! As you can see, I've finally graduated from kiddie ollies and 180s. I've only been skateboarding for what, like, a year? More? It's super pathetic how long I've waited to learn some new tricks." She rolls her eyes, in good-natured self-effacement.

"Many thanks to Nick! He's a pretty good teacher, I have to say. All you hip kids are gonna have to forgive the elbow and knee pads. Mega hot, I know, but oh-em-gee, I'd be hurting so much right now if it weren't for them. Aaaanyway, it's been a while! I've been busy, you know, school and work and whatever. I got to hear a real-live record player the other day! With vinyl." She raises her eyebrows high, clearly expecting her viewers to be impressed.

"It sounded pretty cool! I'm no expert on music or anything, but I can definitely tell the difference, even if Milo's record player is supposedly really crappy. It's sort of interesting, y'know, how we've moved towards convenience rather than quality? I have way more e-books than actual books, but I still think the act of turning pages and curling up in a corner is way superior, even if I'd never take a book with me on the train. SO bulky! Especially on days like today, when the train is really crowded. Not that you can really get a lot of reading done on your holo, either, on a sardine-packed train... guess we'll have to wait for those headsets to come out, huh?"

Sue opens her mouth, about to say more, but then off-screen a male voice calls something, and she pauses.

"OKAY, well, I could've planned this better. Dinnertime now, so I'll have to continue these fascinating thoughts later! Bye!"

End vlog post.

[PWP: NICK LANGER]

The video starts out looking at a bodega ceiling, then the camera swoops down to show Sue's bright-eyed, grinning face. Hey, Nick!! You will not believe what I just found! Oh my god, look at this---

There's a bright-colored blur as she shoves a package into the camera: in focus, it's a drink mix, meant to be mixed with water or soy milk. Jamboree Juice!! she half-shouts, laughing even as she says it. They say they've got banana-strawberry flavor, I have no idea how that will taste, but ohhhh man, if we get some yogurt, I bet this will taste almost like a smoothie, and it's been so long since I've had one. She lowers the package, so it's just her smiling at the camera again. We should completely try this out, am I right? Let me know!

There's a dark blur, then the video cuts out. End message.
